Petroleum Education Council (PEC) Courses

PEC Basic was designed to give students a general idea of life and safety issues in the oil and gas industry, upstream, downstream, onshore or offshore. It will assist contractors to fulfill some OSHA-required annual awareness level training at one session. This one-day program meets API RP 75 & API RP T-1 requirements and provides a basic understanding at an awareness level of certain general safety information that an employee should know before entering a company facility and while performing their assigned work duties. Over 25 of the leading oil and gas operators accept this orientation as it meets their requirements. Upon successful completion of course, each student is issued an individual picture ID and a number that includes verification of topics the student has completed. The student information is then stored in an online database. This orientation has become the standard program for the industry and certifies a student at awareness level for most of the General Industry employment required training topics.

Core Compliance is a standardized program covering the health, safety, and environmental training most requested by oilfield operators and other host employers. The classroom presentation is designed to build on common content in a high-intensity 3-day format.

Students who successfully complete the Core Compliance training course will require annual refresher training to remain in compliance with environmental, health & safety regulations. When administered annually, PEC Core Refresher provides the necessary refresher training to maintain the training certificates obtained through Core Compliance. Core Refresher is a standardized 1-day safety training course that may be taken after completing Core Compliance to update training as required by employers or regulatory agencies.

This is a stand-alone 4-hour course that is designed to employee safety performance for general industry workers who may come into contact with hydrogen sulfide during their regular day-to-day job duties.  Improving safety performance, this course also prepares general industry workers by providing crucial knowledge of the dangers of H2S and the precautions, tools and controls necessary when working in H2S environments.
